STANLEY – 7

She had been wandering the streets for almost two hours, lost in her thoughts and trying to plan the way she was going to find the criminal and make him pay when it happened. She didn’t believe it at first, she thought she was simply hallucinating, that it was an after effect of the shock she had felt, and she had tried to walk past it but it firmly settled in front of her, blocking the way. Once it had started talking though she realized she didn’t know anymore. A dark cat was standing firmly before her, his paws on the ground and his head held high up, looking directly at her.
“You are the chosen one girl.” He started saying in a deep voice that would have suited a baritone. “You shall be the one to fulfill THE Prophecy!”
“Uh, what?” That was all the young woman was able to reply as she tried to understand what was going on.
“Stephanie Delore, you are the reincarnation of the turtle, you have been chosen as the hero of the seventh eye and you are the only one who can save us all…” The feline said in a calm voice as if he explained a math problem to a student. “You must seek the symbole of hope, the one and true piece of two thirds. If you succeed we shall be saved, if not the world will finally meet its end… You are the one who can make the sacred words come true!”
As soon as it had said those words a bright aura surrounded the animal and expanded, almost blinding the young woman. Then, as quickly as it had appeared, it vanished, leaving only the cat and a strange red and green pendant on the ground. The pendant resembled the shape of a turtle’s shell with six closed eyes and one open engraved on it, it radiated with a straneg aura that reminded the Stephanie of something but she couldn’t place her finger on what it was exactly.
“This is an artefact that will help you in your quest I hope, you may not know where to begin yet but you will, trust me on that. Now, I must leave, this world isn’t stable enough for me to remain much longer, remember, you are the chosen one, you must succeed. Look for the round shaped disk and you will find your way!” The sun was already starting to set on the horizon as the black cat’s last words echoed away in the void that his disappearing body had left.
Stephanie was left there, simply staring into the empty space the strange animal had been filling up to a few seconds ago, not knowing what to think or how to react. The thought that it had all been a dream came back to her until she noticed the pendant that he had left behind. It was still lying on the ground but it felt real as soon as she picked it up, its warmth was agreable, and the young woman finally realized that she hadn’t been hallucinating.
“What the fuck…?!” She exclaimed as she stood back up.
To be continued…
