Echoes of Power
Robin David, who was sitting directly behind Alexandre, was smiling brightly at the both of them, his eyes shining with curiosity.
“Oh, hi Robin!” Exclaimed Bryan, returning his bright smile.
“Hi.” Added Alexandre with a curt nod but cringing internally.
He still hadn’t told the others about Chloe and, strangely, Bryan had kept his mouth shut too, so they had yet to discover he was going out with a cute blonde from another school. Oh they would tease him about that, he was sure of it. He was about to reply to his friend when the teacher cleared his throat to get their attention.
“Good morning class, I hope you all spent a good week-end. Now, I would start class immediately but, as you can probably tell, today is a bit special, I have an announcement to make: we are welcoming a new student in our ranks.” Said the tall man in his leather jacket with a small smile.
“Oh? ” Alexandre heard his best friend say.
The history teacher motioned to someone on the other side of the door. It opened and the counselor walked in, almost immediately followed by a tall redheaded girl. She was slightly taller than the counselor and her hair, despite being tied in a pony tail, went down almost to her hips. She seemed a little shy but had this strange mysterious aura about her, though Alexandre couldn’t really explain why. She wore a pair of dark grey jeans and a black jacket over a pink blouse. He noticed some freckles on her cheeks and a necklace partly hidden under her blouse.
“Good morning everyone, I’d like to introduce the new student that will be joining you this year.” The balding man with a small beard turned towards the girl. “Now, Miss Eigenwald… was it Cassandra?”
“Uh, no. It’s Cassandre.” She replied in a soft voice with a polite smile.
“Right, Cassandre. Well, anyway, I hope you will all give her a warm welcome and I leave her in you capable hands Christoph.” He said with a nod towards the teacher before leaving the room.
“Yes, thank you Bernard.” Replied the tall man in his leather jacket with a nod. “So, Cassandre, welcome to Bartholomée Santana. My name is Christoph Brown, I will be both your history teacher and your head teacher, as I am in charge of class 3-B. Before finding you a seat, would you agree to introduce yourself a bit more?” He asked with a warm smile.
The redhead nodded before turning towards the class and clearing her throat.
“I am very pleased to meet you all. My name, as you’ve probably heard before, is Cassandre Eigenwald.” She started without hesitating. “I arrived in Echo Valley a few days ago from the west coast, I moved in with my aunt because my parents had to stay behind for work. I’m seventeen and my hobbies are mainly drawing and singing but I also enjoy doing some sports now and then. I’m really looking forward to getting to know each of you more.”
