Three li’l sheep

.

Three li’l sheep, running in the snow,

All white, all white,

What a beautiful sight!

Three li’l sheep, running in the snow,

Sadly one must go,

Now only two sheep remain…

Two li’l sheep, running in the snow,

All white, all white,

What a beautiful sight!

Two li’l sheep, running in the snow,

Sadly one must go,

Now only one sheep remains…

One li’l sheep, running in the snow,

All white, all white,

What a beautiful sight!

One li’l sheep, running in the snow,

Sadly it must go,

Now none of the sheep remain…

Not mine, a simple translation of a children’s song from a Breton singer I used to listen to a lot when I was a kid.

In the original text in French, it is detailed that the sheep actually melt in the snow, making the story beautiful and poetic but quite sad (or melancholy at least).

I tried my best but rhymes and fidelity are not always easy to fuse…
